Democracy is the best form of Government. Capitalism is the best Economic Form. But, "never shall the twain meet".

No form of government is perfect; but Democracy is the best form. It's the best form because Governments 'Govern' their 'People' and Democratic Government is "of the People", "by the People" and "for the People". The sole function of Government is to 'Govern'; it has no other reason or purpose for existing. Nations and Governments are 'created' or 'established' by the People. Nations and Governments are Political Institutions. They are not Natural, nor, are they 'born', i.e., in the manner that human beings are parts of Nature and are born. Hence, what better form for a Government, than a Government "of People", "by People" and "for People"? But, there are other important aspects to Governing a Nation or a 'Society' (a high level abstraction, hence, better stated as a "condition of togetherness"), that need elaboration. Each and every real Individual in the "condition of togetherness' needs to have the means for continuing their existence, or, stated differently, 'of survival' within the Nation. That further means that Nations and Governments must provide the 'Institutional means' by which these 'necessities' are made available to all the Individuals in the 'condition of togetherness', hence, the General Welfare. Here, enters Law and Capitalism. ( Ill get to Law later). Capitalism is an 'economic form' without peer. Capitalism is 'Good', its 'Great'. We need Capitalism. But, at this point we must be very, very careful. Capitalism has a 'motor', a 'movement' that insures 'its survival', as an economic Form. Governments also have their 'Motors'. Democratic Governments, 'must Govern'. They have no 'Other function'. At this point great care is necessary. Democratic Governments govern with 'Freedom and Equality'; i.e., each and every real Individual under their jurisdiction is considered Free and Equal. But, Capitalism is motored by competition, Money, and Profits. Capitalism cannot Motor a Democracy and Democracy cannot motor Capitalism. They must work 'together' but, they must remain separate entities. Democratic Governments 'suffer' when they are motored by 'Profits and money'( the 1%). Capitalism 'suffers' when it is motored by 'Freedom and Equality'. Never Shall The Twain Meet.
